While we are here talking about Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro non-stop, almost on the other side of the world, specifically in India, our Asian friends are instead interested in something else, namely a version of Redmi Note 7 with camera from 48MP.
Now you may ask, but doesn't Redmi Note 7 already have a 48MP sensor? The answer is yes, all over the world except in India. We do not know the real reasons behind this choice but suppose that Xiaomi India has decided to go with a less expensive sensor to lower the price of the device. This is because in India the specific price / price ratio is even more important than in our country.
Redmi Note 7S coming to India with 48MP camera
In any case, today the general manager of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, has officially announced the arrival of the new device under the name of Redmi Note 7S. Although not yet confirmed it is believed that the smartphone is practically identical to the Redmi Note 7 launched in India a few months ago, with the only difference being that it resides in the image sensor.
As some of you may know, there are currently two 48MP mobile image sensors, the Samsung GM1 and the Sony IMX586. The first of the two is what we find on the Redmi Note 7 Global for sale around the world, while the second product from Sony is the one equipped on the more premium Redmi Note 7 Pro currently available only in China and India.
We still don't know which of the two sensors will be used to replace the current one of only 12MP. Obviously many hope both the Sony IMX586 as real 48MP port that can then be reduced to 12MP to increase the image quality in poor lighting conditions.
As for the secondary camera instead, here too we expect an upgrade from the 2MP of the Redmi Note 7 Indian version to the one from 5MP instead present on our local / Global version and on the Note 7 Pro.
As we said before, all other specifications should remain unchanged, so we will find a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor supported by 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card, an LCD COG screen from 6.3 Full HD +, a front camera from 13MP hidden in the top notch with support for unlocking with the face and, finally, a large 4000mAh battery.
The Redmi Note 7S will be officially launched in India the next 20 May.
