A few hours ago we confirmed (in this article) the arrival of a ben 64MP image sensor that will be equipped in the future Redmi smartphone. Well, apparently the parent company, Xiaomi, is not willing to stand there and watch the sub-brand grab all the spotlight, announcing something even more exceptional, precisely in a literal sense.
As you can see from the title in fact, Xiaomi and Samsung have started an exceptional collaboration to bring to the world the first mobile image sensor with 108MP resolution.

Yes, you read that right, we just said 108MP, 100 million pixels, or more than double the number of 48MP sensors currently in circulation. The resolution produced by this mega sensor will be 12032 x 9024 pixel to take pictures with details never seen before on a smartphone.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not communicated the actual size of the sensor, a very important datum, perhaps even more than the resolution, which would have made us understand or at least assume the quality of the images that we could obtain.
In any case, this collaboration between Xiaomi and Samsung seems to be very close. In fact, Xiaomi will have the exclusivity of using the sensor for several months after release, so theoretically even Samsung will not be able to use it in their devices.
Xiaomi has not communicated the possible launch date of this super camera phone but many suggest that we will not see it before the Q4 2019, or towards the end of the year. Obviously one of the most likely devices would be the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4, a smartphone that for months has been anticipated as the bearer of many new features and technologies never seen before. The fact is that just yesterday we saw that the smartphone will support a top-up of at least 45W, in addition to the modern 5G module, so we wouldn't be surprised if the MIX 4 is also the one chosen for using the new Samsung image sensor.
