Xiaomi: New device with Samsung GW1 sensor from 64MP on the way

A few days ago vi we had reported of the possible use of Samsung's latest mobile image sensor, namely the Samsung GW1 from 64MP, on an upcoming device produced by Redmi. These rumors, although very realistic, were still rumors and therefore gave us no certainty.

Well, the situation seems to change today after a forum user from Xda-Developers seems to have managed to find interesting information from the camera application in the MIUI 9.6.17 version now available for the Redmi K20 Pro.

As we can see in the strings extrapolated above, we find the phrase "64MP DUAL CAMERA" and several times the words "64MP", so it would seem confirmed the arrival of a device with sensor from 64MP. We add that this sensor is almost a shadow of doubt the Samsung 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1, because the only image sensor for smartphones currently on the market with this resolution.

The new GW1 sensor from Samsung was created to capture bright and detailed images in all light conditions thanks to Tetracell technology and 3D HDR, which allows you to take photos from 16MP in low light conditions, combining pixels from 0,8um and turning them into from 1,6um, effectively capturing more light. There is also ISOCELL Plus technology to significantly increase sensitivity to light, creating photos with more faithful and clear colors.

As we said in this post, the Samsung sensor could be equipped for the first time on a Samsung device (obviously), most likely the Galaxy A70s. Afterwards we could instead have a Redmi device in China that, perhaps like the Redmi K20 series, could turn into a Mi series in the rest of the world.
