Xiaomi expands its range of home security devices with the launch of the new Xiaomi Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G Dual-Camera Edition, Now available through crowdfunding in China. The starting price is 379 yuan (about €49), a surprisingly low price considering the additional features compared to the standard version.
Xiaomi Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G Dual-Camera Edition released in China
This new edition is Xiaomi's first outdoor camera with built-in 4G connectivity, thanks to the China Telecom and China Unicom SIM cards already included with the device. The most interesting feature is that the camera can operate without Wi-Fi or wired networks, making it ideal for use on construction sites, farmland, parking lots, country homes, or any area without an internet connection.
The built-in SIM card offers unlimited free data, available exclusively through the Mi Home app. There are no speed limits or additional charges, completely eliminating long-term management fees.
Compared to the non-4G version, which sells for 299 yuan (about €39), this variant costs only 80 yuan (about €10) more. A minimal difference that, however, introduces a huge advantage: the ability to install the camera anywhere, without worrying about Wi-Fi coverage.
The Xiaomi Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G Dual-Camera Edition uses a 5-megapixel dual-lens system, consisting of:
- Wide angle lens, to monitor large areas
- Telephoto lens, to focus on specific areas
Resolution reaches up to 3K, ensuring sharp and detailed images. The two lenses work together thanks to the combined tracking function, which improves accuracy when following people or moving vehicles.
Both lenses feature dual white illumination and dual infrared light, a combination that allows the camera to automatically adjust to lighting conditions. When it detects a human figure at night, it activates the illumination to brighten the scene and deter intruders.
