Xiaomi will decentralize the production of its smartphones, that's where

Xiaomi seems to want to change the area of production of your devices. Previously we have dealt with the story by analyzing the reasons why the production had moved to Turkey. However, there are some news. Apparently, as revealed from certain sources the production of Xiaomi smartphones could move to Pakistan. All this starting from next year clearly and thanks to the collaboration between Lei Jun's Chinese company and one of its historical local partners. This partner is, among other things, a subsidiary of another company. But let's not complicate the situation and unroll the skein.

Xiaomi would have decided to decentralize the production (or rather the assembly) of its smartphones (also Redmi and POCO) in Pakistan. Here is the information we have about this change

The information in our possession speaks of a change of direction in the production of smartphones for Xiaomi. Pakistan should be the affected area. The brand is expanding the geography of its mobile device production and in the January 2022 will begin to be assembled in Pakistan. A note filed on Monday on the Pakistan Stock Exchange reads:

Xiaomi, the global consumer electronics and smartphone giant, has joined Select Technologies (Pvt) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Link Communication Limited, as a manufacturing partner for mobile phones in Pakistan

Xiaomi civi

The main objective of this wholly owned subsidiary of Air Link Communication Limited would be to undertake additional production of mobile devices of certain selected brands. This means (but we still have no confirmation) that the company will produce (or rather will assemble) smartphones not only for Xiaomi but also for other brands.

Initially it will focus on the production and assembly of approx 2.5 or 3 million smartphones per year contributing to the revenue with approx 450 million dollars a year. Xiaomi continues to expand its operations outside of China as it feels the void left by Huawei. The numbers speak for themselves and the data from different sources indicate that Xiaomi is currently the best-selling smartphone brand in the world, outperforming both Apple and Samsung.

But having said that, what does it mean? Some might hypothesize that decentralization and therefore the approach to Europe is positive. At least as regards the prices. In reality this is not the case because we remember that for the whole of 2022 (according to forecasts) we will have to fight with the chip crisis. It will be this that will not lower the prices of smartphones, compensating for the proximity to Europe which should instead help to reduce them.
