Crash Test Discredits Xiaomi SU7, Chinese Blogger Arrested

On August 13, 2024, a blogger on an unspecified platform published a so-called “test video” in which a Xiaomi car collided with a car of another brand, with the intent of deceiving the public. The “test” methods and conclusions in the video contained many serious errors and biases, which caused extremely negative effects on the Internet and seriously damaged Xiaomi's corporate reputation.

After the incident, Xiaomi immediately collected evidence, began legal rights protection work, and resolutely defended the company's legitimate rights and interests. In the future, Xiaomi will continue to protect its rights in accordance with the law and resolutely defend the company's rights and reputation.

Xiaomi also expressed a sincere call to users and the media to resist false information and malicious smears, and work together to create a healthy online environment.

It is reported that the automotive blogger “Turns out to be Xiangxiang” published a video titled “When Xiaomi SU7 Hits Zeekr 007” in August. During the test, the collision speed was 60 kilometers per hour, and the collision was made with 90% overlap. As a result, the small battery of Xiaomi SU7 lost power and the car door could not be opened.

However, some scenes in the video have raised doubts. Chinese users have noticed differences between the small battery of the Xiaomi SU7 shown in the initial and subsequent scenes. In response, the blogger claimed that the battery was intact when removed, but was damaged by a forklift during packaging and loading onto the truck.

Xiaomi Auto currently states: “After analysis, we believe that this so-called ‘test’ was not rigorously set up, the records are incomplete, and the conclusions are untrue.” This indicates a clear lack of rigor in conducting the test and presenting reliable results.
