On the evening of the August 22, Qualcomm officially announced that the new range of high-end processors will adopt a 7nm technology produced by TSMC Foundries. These highly advanced chips will then be paired with Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 modems allowing the smartphone to connect to future 5G networks.
At the moment, there are many OEM manufacturers that have test units and development kits to use this next-generation technology, with more details to be revealed by Qualcomm later this year.
In all this, what does Xiaomi have to do with it? Well, apparently the Chinese colossus could be one of the first companies worldwide to use this technology. In particular, the next Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 produced precisely from TSMC to 7nm with Kryo big core, most likely based on the Cortex A76 architecture.
This rumor comes from a post of Qualcomm then shared by the account of Xiaomi on social Weibo. In addition to sharing, the Chinese company has also added the word "expect", meaning that you are waiting. Almost certainly a reference to the fact that Xiaomi will be one of the first smartphone manufacturers to use the brand new chip of the American company. What's more, Xiaomi then commented on another post by Qualcomm saying "See you soon", or soon; do we have to add anything else?
Whether it's true or not, Xiaomi is not new to be among the companies to launch Qualcomm CPU devices before all the other competitors, as happened with the Mi 6 with the 835 Snapdragon, the very latest Mi 8 SE with the 710 Snapdragon and others.
At the moment it is really difficult to predict when this new hypothetical smartphone with the future Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and consequently 5G connectivity will be revealed. For now we can only say that if there is a company in the world that can do it is Xiaomi and we will always be among the first to let you know. Stay waiting!
