Xiaomi pushes UWB: new devices with satellite calling and car control

Xiaomi continues to invest in UWB (Ultra-Wideband) technology, and the latest developments confirm it. On October 21, a mysterious wearable device with model number M2542T1 was registered with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, officially supporting UWB technology. While no details on the brand name or specific features are yet available, the integration of UWB suggests a significant evolution in the brand's wearable ecosystem.

Meanwhile, a Xiaomi smartphone with model number 25128PNA1C also received radio approval on October 10. This device supports Tiantong-1 satellite calling, Beidou messaging, and UWB, confirming Xiaomi's intention to expand advanced connectivity on multiple fronts.

Ultra-Wideband technology enables high-precision short-range communications, with applications ranging from spatial positioning to intelligent remote control. Xiaomi has already demonstrated the potential of UWB with the Xiaomi 15S Pro, capable of unlocking the Xiaomi YU7 car without keys, automatically opening the trunk, and enabling contactless payments at train turnstiles without the need for scans or cards.

These capabilities are made possible by the advanced spatial awareness offered by UWB, which precisely measures the distance between devices and improves automatic interaction between them.

With the arrival of new certified devices, Xiaomi is building an increasingly intelligent HyperOS ecosystem, where smartphones, wearables, cars, and home devices interact seamlessly and securely. UWB represents a key element for automating everyday scenarios, improving security, and offering frictionless user experiences.

While the M2542T1 wearable remains shrouded in mystery, it is likely a new smartwatch or smart band with advanced features for location tracking, remote control, or interaction with other Xiaomi devices.
