Water is a precious commodity, much more than gold, an important element in the daily life of every human being, able to generate life, to give it continuity. We ourselves are made to 65% of water but too often this resource is polluted. Without entering into political and humanistic conversations, I conclude this brief introduction by telling you that sometimes even in your own home you are subjected to micro-contamination of water, caused by calcium deposits but also to bacteria that could survive in the pipes. Initially presented on the crowdfunding platform of the Chinese company, Viomi L1 is presented in an elegant packaging colored hardcover showing the product in a beautiful view on the front, while on the sides we find the main features related to the carafe and the filter. A nice young lady (I think famous in China) makes us immediately want to drink a glass of water. Inside our sales box we find our Viomi L1, the filter sealed inside a plastic bag, small brochure which lists the purifier series of the brand, Chinese-language user manual e charging cable USB with micro USB connection. You wonder why a charging cable? Well read on to discover the novelty that makes Viomi L1 intriguing.
The strong point of Viomi L1 filtering carafe is the implementation of a ultraviolet disinfection system, which further purifies the water in addition to what has already been done by the supplied filter. This UV system according to the company provides one defense against water impurities, such as the presence of chlorine, limestone and heavy metals (lead, mercury, copper, cadmium) but above all kills bacteria up to 99,99%, such as E.coli, salmonella, staffilococco aureo and shigella. Operation is very simple because once the water has been filtered just touch the button on the lower profile, and operate the UV lamp. It is also understood that the water is in the purification phase because around the coating of the lamp you can see micro bubbles, as when we put the water to boil on the fire.
Automatically after 2 exact minutes the UV lamp will switch off preserving the battery charge. There are no sounds or buzzers at the end of the operation but I honestly do not consider them necessary because the extreme simplicity of use nullifies any further addition of contour elements. The lamp is powered by one battery from 940 mAh which is recharged via the supplied micro USB cable in about 1 now and promises one duration up to 40 sterilizations.
Viomi MH1Z L1 has a design that does not differ much from filtering carafes present on the market, with dimensions of X x 265 145,5 262 mm, weight of 1360 grams (including filter) and one capacity of 1,5 liters for the filter compartment while in total we reach a capacity of 3,5 liters. Materials are used ABS and AS that fully meet all the standards of food hygiene, as absent any trace of Bisphenol A (BPA). Completely transparent with the exception of the finishes of the handle, the cap and the battery module which are in glossy black color, while the filter holder compartment is in light blue color. A right mix of colors that gives a certain style to the Viomi L1, able to fully adapt to any style of furniture, both modern and retro. The handle is ergonomic and guarantees a firm and secure grip. However, I would have preferred that the finishes were opaque because the glossy treatment results poco oleophobic, withholding fingerprints and greasy like a magnet.
But before moving on to water disinfection, it passes first through a innovative filter able last up to 6 weeks (you can find the replacement filters always in the store Banggood which proposes a kit from 3 unit at the price of about 36 euro) and with superior filtering power compared to traditional cartridges thanks to ben 7 filter layers of activated carbon and resin. The Viomi MH1Z L1 filter also results effective against the elimination of odors as well as about the elimination of the "heaviness" of tap water and turbidity. However, innovation also consists in the upper capsule which allows a greater water ingress flow which therefore will be all conveyed into the present inlets and then filtered.

Honestly I can not give you a confirmation about the real purity of the water, even if before being commercialized, Viomi MH1Z L1 has obtained significant certifications from accredited bodies and laboratories specialized in food analysis. What I can tell you is that the difference between a glass of tap water and the same water filtered with Viomi L1 is decidedly clear. Personally I never drank water from the tap at home, but I always bought packs at various supermarkets, contributing to land pollution. Honestly after trying the Viomi filter carafe, I am seriously persuading to drink only water from home. Perhaps the initial cost will be high, but over time the actual cost will be amortized, saving even the effort to carry the weight of heavy packs of water, helping to preserve nature. So aside from these ecological considerations, I can say without a doubt that this product has convinced me, and that from today I can finally appreciate the quality of a healthy and pure water.
