Xiaomi dominates the wearable sector: first with 20,3% of the market share

One of the most authoritative and famous market research agencies, Canalys, has just released a new market survey today. This concerns the growth of wearables in the year 2020, which according to the agency grew by 10%, for a total of over 185 million units.

Xiaomi dominates the wearable sector: first with 20,3% of the market share

This growth would be due to the fact that due to the Covid19 epidemic, more and more people are paying attention to their health and / or exercising outdoors. In this field, wearables and TWS wireless headphones therefore continue to become the two most purchased main products.

But why are we talking about this market research on XiaomiToday? Well, clearly Xiaomi has asserted itself in 2020 as every year, going to win the first place with its wearables. Specifically, it ranks first with 37,7 million units shipped, for a market share of 20,3% and an annual growth rate of 5,7%.

In second place we have Apple which has remained very close with shipments of 35,2 million units shipped in 2020, a market share of 18% and an annual growth rate of 29%. Huawei (including Honor) was ranked third, with a shipment of 32,2 million units, a market share of 17,4% and an annual growth rate of 46,6%.

Fitbit sold 13,4 million units last year and its market share further declined to 7,2%, down 16,3% from last year.

It is not difficult to predict that, as in the market, the major wearable wrist device manufacturers will have more competition in the future. At the moment, however, Xiaomi, Apple and Huawei are dividing the world.

Finally, considering that the supply chain is constrained by the shortage of components, Canalys has adjusted its market forecasts for 2021, forecasting that wrist wearables will grow by 10,2%, thus with a total of 204 million units. .
