Fast charging has now become one of the most important features in today's smartphones, or so it seems at Xiaomi. The Chinese brand is in fact always working to bring a faster recharge on its flagships to each generation.
Leak: Xiaomi already working on 80W wireless charging, it will arrive in the first half of the year
But apparently the fast charging with maximum power of 120W that we have seen on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition, also known as Mi 10 Ultra, is not enough and will soon be accompanied by a wireless charging of 80W.
This was revealed by the famous blogger Digital Chat Station who on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter) has just made it known that Xiaomi is already in the testing phase for 80W wireless charging and that devices could go into mass production already in the first half of 'year.
This has led several users to speculate that this technology will be adopted on the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro and we would not be surprised at all. In fact, it was thought that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro would be presented together with the standard Mi 11 in the conference at the end of December, but unfortunately this was not the case. On the contrary, the Mi 11 slightly disappoints from the point of view of wired fast charging with a power of 55W, even if the wireless one is not bad at all with a power of up to 50W, the top of the class.
In any case, the Mi 11 uses a brand new custom charging pump for further increased conversion efficiency to over 98,5%. While in the past, the conversion efficiency of the charging pump chips was around 95% and 96%. Clearly with higher charging efficiency, the energy losses are less during charging.
Secondly, the more efficient custom charge pump can also reduce the heat generated during the charging process, and the lower charge temperature further prolongs the life of high-power charging and improves the charging speed.
