After seeing several rumors and leaks that suggested its arrival, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ was finally presented today.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ official: The first time over 3Ghz on a mobile chip
The Snapdragon 865+ is the first mobile chipset to surpass a 3GHz CPU clock, therefore higher than that of the Snapdragon 855+ found inside the Asus ROG Phone II and other smartphones that reached 2,96 GHz.
Specifically we have a maximum clock of 3,1 GHz, with a 10% increase compared to the 2,84 GHz frequency of the Snapdragon 865. It is still the same Kryo 585 core as are the other three "big cores" (always at 2,42 GHz).
Like the non plus version, the S865 + supports 144 Hz displays, but obviously thanks to the 10% boost it will be easier to get to the framerates that allow us to enjoy the displays at that frequency. In addition, the Adreno 650 GPU also received a clock increase.
Another hardware change is the switch to FastConnect 6900 (instead of 6800). This allows support for Wi-Fi 6E, which works on the 6 GHz band to offer speeds of up to 3,2 Gbps and latency of less than 3 ms. In addition, it makes Bluetooth 5.2 possible with apt X Adaptive for 96 kHz audio
Finally, the chipset still uses the external X55 modem to provide 5G connectivity globally (supporting both sub-6 GHz and mmWave). The ISP and the DSP remain the same, respectively Spectra 480 and Hexagon 698, then there is the Quick Charge 4.0+ with AI control.
