Do you like Android on Amazon TV Sticks? Get ready to say goodbye to him

Amazon is ready to take an important step forward. Jeff Bezos' company, renowned for its ability to anticipate and shape the digital future, is preparing to introduce a radical change at the heart of its devices: a planned farewell to Android, the operating system that has so far powered its range of products, from the Fire Tablet to the Fire TV. The news, revealed by one recent journalistic investigation, signals the advent of “Vega".

Introduction to Vega: the future according to Amazon without Android

Amazon has built its fame on exploitation modified versions of Android, known as forks, to be able to ignore Google services and deeply customize the platform. However, this strategy led to gods compromise, such as a slower update of Android versions and a user experience that differs significantly from that of other Android devices such as Samsung ones.

Amazon's solution? Vega, a Linux-based operating system, which promises to streamline the user experience focusing on applications developed in JavaScript via React Native. This change in strategy may reflect Amazon's desire to offer a more integrated and optimized experience on its devices, reducing complexity and improving speed and efficiency.

When will it hit the market?

The development of Vega has been an ambitious project, which has seen the collaboration of hundreds of developers since 2017. While still being tested on Fire TV devices, Amazon's plans are clear: the new operating system could arrive on the market as early as next year, bringing with it a new era of Amazon hardware.

As for Fire Tablets, which depend more heavily on native Android apps, the transition to Vega could present greater challenges. However, Echo smart displays and in-car entertainment systems could benefit greatly from this change, marking a further step by Amazon towards an increasingly self-sufficient product ecosystem characterized by greater integration.
