HarmonyOS from Huawei as an alternative to Android, possible scenario

Speaking of HarmonyOS many things come to mind: the skin of Huawei, that of Honor and conflict that has taken place between China and the US which led these two companies to split up. There split, if on the one hand it had a positive effect on Honor, it cannot be said that it had the same effect on Huawei. For this reason, as reported by HuaweiCentral, one of the possible scenarios for the future is that the skin can be offered as valid alternative to Android.

According to rumors, the HarmonyOS could be modified to take over from Google's Android in case of problems between companies

A few months ago we talked about the possibility, later denied by several brands, of uuse HarmonyOS as an operating system on Xiaomi, Oppo smartphones and company. Lei Jun, CEO and patron of Xiaomi, immediately silenced the rumor but today a news is insistent that the skin of Huawei and Honor could propose itself as alternative to Android seriously. So we could go from having any customization based on Android (MIUI rather than ColorOS) to having a all new operating system.

HarmonyOS from Huawei as an alternative to Android, possible scenario

This is an answer to two questions: the USA ban and monopoly of Google. If on the one hand the Chinese giant wants to "take revenge", on the other he offers himself as the promoter of one of the largest programs in world telephony, namely the monopoly of Google. Reportedly, HarmonyOS may give consent for all companies to use their platform. In this way the giants from all over the world (Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo, realme and so on and so forth) could disengage from Google Mobile Service (GMS) and Play Store services.

But let's put everything in the cauldron: is such a thing worthwhile? Some say yes, others say otherwise. We see both facets.

Pro

  • release from Google
  • use of a less binding open source platform
  • possibility to use the services outside Europe, in particular in China, which is currently impossible with Google

Cons

  • It will not be easy for Huawei to turn against Google
  • Google's dominant position is backed by very powerful US figures, who would stand against the move
  • inconvenience for users who should learn to use a new system

But what do you think? Could it be an easy step or not?
