Huami announces a new operating system and chip dedicated to its Amazfit smartwatches

Fans of wearables there is good news for you too, especially if you are a lover of the devices proposed by the Huami brand or the Amazfit wearables but also Zepp, because the ciense company has an event planned for this July 13th. We do not know if during the scheduled event there will be surprises from the point of view of new smart wearables but apparently the certain news will concern future devices, because the new operating system for smartwatches will be announced as well as a proprietary chip.

The event will be called "The Future of Health" and, as already mentioned, in addition to the new operating system, Huami will also present a new chip for smartwatches. All this information was confirmed on Weibo by Huang Wang, founder and CEO of Huami Technology, who took the opportunity to share some details of the new OS of his watches.

Huami announces a new operating system and chip dedicated to its Amazfit smartwatches

From what emerges, Huami's new operating system, developed by the manufacturer itself, promises to improve the health functions present in wearables, probably in combination with the new proprietary chipset. Therefore, heart rate and blood oxygenation measurements will be more accurate, as will the sleep monitoring algorithm and step counting and metrics dedicated to the various monitorable sports activities.

A small appetizer of the new OS of Amazfit devices gives us the video above, where we can see the heart rate monitoring interface completely redesigned and with an even more professional look. In this regard, the CEO of Huami has expressly specified that the new operating system will be implemented only in smartwatches and not in fitness bands, while it is quite clear that the implementation will only concern the new devices that will be presented in the future.

It is not clear even if the OS will still be based on RTOS (the one used until now) but also the basic graphics will be renewed starting from the dynamic type dials, like the one visible in the video above. The leakers who have been able to test this new OS praise the user interface and the experience in general which is more pleasant and visually better.

As for Huami's new watch processor, it is believed that it will be the Huangshan 2S and that it will use a separate GPU. It will be a dual-core chipset based on the RISC-V architecture and not only will it be more powerful, but it will also have lower power consumption. Appointment then on July 13 for more information that we will not fail to bring you.
