Qualcomm officially makes the Snapdragon 450: Xiaomi RedMi 5 coming at the end of the year?

After its official presentation to Shanghai Mobile World Congress 2017, the successor to the Snapdragon 435 has recently seen the light. That's why the new mid-range processor of Qualcomm, huh Snapdragon 450, was officially produced ... also going a little countercurrent, given the last tendency to abandon the search for the "micro".

Snapdragon 450 is really a mid-range?

Qualcomm 400 first processor to be realized with 14 nm technology with 3D (FinFET) transistors, the Snapdragon 450 will take over what has been one of the most popular processors on mid-low bandwidth devices, SD 435. In fact, supporting Cortex-A53 cores to 1.8 GHz and an Adreno 506 GPU, the new SoC will provide performance improvements for a good 25%.

Among the novelties we definitely find support for Quick Charge 3.0, almost always absent on the devices that fitted the "old" 435 as it did Xiaomi RedMi 4. This important feature also adds support to cameras up to 21 Megapixel, for single cameras, and cameras with sensors up to 12 Megapixel for dual cameras.

Available for effective marketing as of next September, the new SD 450 will also feature the CAR 7 and CAR 13 technologies, which will respectively support download speeds up to 300 Mbps and 150 Mbps.

We do not expect smartphones to be launched since September with this SoC because the timings would be very limited, rather we believe it might be realistic to assume that by the end of this year, a device could be introduced that could set the definitive quality cheap Xiaomi devices, the RedMi 5!

We would like to point out that there is nothing official about launching the Xiaomi RedMi 5 to date, but it is safe to imagine that the times become more and more mature also because the Chinese company has never made us wait so long for the release of a new model of the RedMi Series.

We'll find out! A greeting from the XiaomiToday team!
