As we all know, on December 28, Xiaomi officially presented its new flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 11. This is the first smartphone in the world with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip, thus bringing first-class performance. In addition to the Mi 11, the brand has also launched a charger, the Xiaomi 55W GaN Fast Charger.

Well, today the Xiaomi 55W GaN Fast Charger is finally on sale in China at the price of 99 yuan, or about 13 euros at the current exchange rate. This means that soon we will be able to see it available on different stores that export outside the Asian country, such as Gearbest, Banggood and others.
But with what specifications does the new Xiaomi charger arrive? Well, as the name suggests, the Xiaomi 55W GaN Fast Charger is able to recharge our smartphone at a maximum power of 55W, as long as it supports such fast charging. The product has model number MDY-12-EQ and works with an input of 100-240V at 50 / 60Hz and 1.5A. While for the output, the charger supports the following combinations: 5V to 3A, 9V to 3A , 11V at 5A Max and 20V at 2.5A. Among the combinations just mentioned, the most interesting is clearly 11V at 5A, as it equates to a maximum output power of 55W.
In any case, according to official data, the charger is equipped with a new generation of gallium nitride semiconductor materials, which greatly improve the "power density" and therefore has smaller dimensions than other high-power chargers.
Moving on to the external part, the Xiaomi 55W GaN Fast Charger uses a simple design in pure white color and adopts only one USB Type-A port (the ordinary / old one) to allow us to recharge only one device at a time.
In fact, the brand has not yet communicated whether the charger has compatibility with QC3.0, FCP, PD3.0, AFC, PPS, PE2.0 and other fast charging protocols. So it could work at maximum power of 55W only on the new Mi 11 or other Xiaomi products like laptops.
Finally, in terms of safety, the new product supports multiple protections such as overheating protection, undervoltage protection and anti-interference. Also, some fireproof ABS material is used to make the product safer.
