The store in Singapore, Mi Home, in fact is the first local partner to sell Xiaomi company.
The Xiaomi phones are finally there physically available in the first store, We Home, located in Southeast Asia, exactly in Singapore. The Mi Home store is located in the popular shopping center Suntec City and sells the Xiaomi line of mobile phones and accessories. But unlike other stores, the Xiaomi ecosystem product line is limited, in fact we do not find products such as Mi TV or Mi Rice Cooker.
Xiaomi says he plans to define his product line over time. But for now, customers they will have to settle down of the I Max, My 5, RedMi 3S, RedMi Note 3, Mi Band 2 and other accessories such as loudspeakers and power banks.
The Chinese manufacturer is using a local partner to handle the store, unlike those in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, which are managed by Xiaomi itself.
The company is also turning to the regional web retailer Lazada to manage online sales.
These moves to hand over sales responsibilities to third parties could point towards a change in Xiaomi's current strategy so that the Chinese giant can focus on its domestic market to recover the ground lost against rivals. Huawei, Oppo and Vivo.
The company continues to struggle for India, the second largest smartphone market around the world after China. It is therefore likely that Xiaomi will use the same retail strategy used in Singapore also across the Southeast Asian region to shift its focus to India and the United States within the next year.
