On June 24, the Chinese blogger BeautifulTech sent an apology letter to Xiaomi. For what reason? Well, BeautifulTech had leaked the unboxing video of the new (at the time) Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra in advance after signing a confidentiality agreement.
Xiaomi wins a case against Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra leakster: it will have to pay over 142 thousand euros
The case was arbitrated by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission and it was determined that the blogger's behavior violated the confidentiality agreement and caused serious harm to Xiaomi, claiming that the blogger should have paid reasonable compensation.
After the arbitration, BeautifulTech had to pay 1 million yuan to the Xiaomi Company and at the same time paid out a total of 95360 yuan for legal fees. Translated into euros, the compensation amounts to approximately 130 thousand euros, while legal costs amount to 12 thousand euros. So the Chinese blogger had to shell out a total of 142 euros.
In an apology letter sent to the Chinese company, the blogger stated:
My breach of contract has caused serious damage to Xiaomi, I apologize to Xiaomi, to the CEO Lei Jun and the Xiaomi employees who have given me great trust, as well as to all Mi Fans, I'm sorry.
In response to this incident, I deeply realized the various mistakes I made. In the future life, I will respect the law, have a correct attitude and no longer make similar mistakes.
Wang Teng, Xiaomi Redmi product director, recalled that there is a risk in giving the news and advises everyone to be more cautious.
Recall that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra leaked by the Chinese blogger was launched in August 2020. It was a super camera phone with a 48MP main camera with a size of 1 / 1.32 inches, focal aperture 1 / 1,69 and OIS stabilization (Optical Image Stabilization), then optical stabilization; an ultra wide angle secondary camera with a resolution of 20MP; a third macro with 2MP resolution and finally a periscope lens that allows a maximum zoom of 120x, divided into 10x via optical and the rest in a hybrid / digital way.
