Xiaomi Mi Watch is easy to disassemble, but difficult to repair | Photo

The portal experts iFixit they took apart the smartwatch Xiaomi Mi Watch (2021). This differs from the Chinese version, clearly: the body has changed from a square to round shape. Taking into account that the wearable device is much cheaper than its counterparts from Apple, Samsung and Huawei, the team was interested in knowing how it works inside and what degree of repairability the device has. That said, just unscrew the four screws on the back to remove the cover. It is interesting to note that Xiaomi did not use glue, but the case is still protected from water ingress. 

After removing the rear plastic cover, all internal components are accessible. The first step is remove the battery: just raise it slightly and that's it. For the fussy eaters, Xiaomi uses internally standard Phillips screws, so no special tools are needed. The biggest challenge was replacing the . To remove it, you need to use one heater (those like hair dryers) since the display is glued to the case. For this reason, during disassembly, the screen broke. In addition, many components are linked together and cannot be replaced separately. All this makes repairs more difficult but above all expensive.

At the end of the fair the team gave a rating of 5 out of 10, decreeing that yes it is easy to disassemble but not to repair. The point therefore is: beware of this Mi Watch because if it breaks you will have to buy it back.
