Xiaomi today unveiled its new foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3", the third model of the MIX Fold series, which debuted in 2021 with Xiaomi's first foldable, and stands out for some high-level technical characteristics.

The MIX Fold 3 is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor Leading Edition, Qualcomm's latest flagship solution, which ensures high performance and optimized power consumption. The processor is joined by 16 GB of RAM LPDDR5X and a 4.0GB or 512TB UFS 1 internal storage.
The strong point of the MIX Fold 3 is certainly its folding screen, which closes on itself like a book. The internal screen is a 8,03 inch OLED panel with 2K resolution and Variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. Lo external screen is instead a 6,52-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. Both screens are protected by ultra-flexible glass UTG (Ultra Thin Glass), which ensures greater strength and durability.
The photographic sector of the MIX Fold 3 is made up of four Leica-certified rear cameras, which offer superior image quality and shooting versatility. There Main camera is 50 MP with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). There ultra wide angle camera is 13 MP with f / 2.4 aperture and 123 degree field of view. The telephoto camera is 8MP with f/2.4 aperture, 3,2x optical zoom and OIS. There periscope camera is 8 MP with aperture f / 4.1, 5x optical zoom and OIS. The MIX Fold 3 also supports hybrid zoom up to 30x and digital zoom up to 100x.
Le front cameras are instead two: one under the 20MP internal screen with aperture f / 2.0 e one on the 20 MP external screen with f/2.2 aperture. Both cameras allow you to take selfies, make video calls and unlock the device using facial recognition.
The design of the MIX Fold 3 is elegant and refined, with a leather-like glass shell available in two colors: Black and Gold. It has also been launchedXiaomi Dragon Scale Fiber Edition” with an aerospace fiber composite material back cover, 36 times stronger than glass, high hardness, high toughness and impact resistance.
The device has a teardrop zipper which allows you to fold the screen smoothly and securely, leaving no gaps or cracks. The hinge also supports free angle mode, which allows you to position the internal screen at different angles between 45° and 135°. It is also reported that the MIX Fold 3 is only 5,26 mm thick when unfolded and up to 10,96 mm when closed, which is very thin for a foldable smartphone.
La battery of the MIX Fold 3 is 4800 mAh and supports the 67W wired fast charging , 50W wireless charging. Furthermore, the device integrates a chip dedicated to battery management, which improves its efficiency and safety.
The MIX Fold 3 also has a symmetrical loudspeaker which delivers powerful and clear stereo sound, thanks to Harman Kardon technology. The device also has IP6x certification against water and dust, a side fingerprint sensor, support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and dual GPS.
The price of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 starts from 8999 yuan (About 1169 euro) for the version from 256GB of internal memory and reaches up to 10999 yuan (About 1429 €) for the version from 1TB with aerospace fiber shell. The device will be available in China from August 16th and hopefully it will also arrive in Europe at a later date.
