The popularity of Xiaomi in the world of wearables is now at the highest levels, especially after the launch of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, which added the only thing missing from the previous version, that is a display. Wanting to quantify this popularity, we can say that about 33% of the smartband market share is in the hands of Xiaomi.
This figure came out of a recent market research conducted by Canalys Research, where 9 million units of total smartband expeditions were quantified in the second quarter of 2016. Despite the excellent result, Xiaomi did not stand in the head but second place. The top of the rankings was touched at Fitbit with about 3,7 million units. Third place instead of Garmin with 700 thousand units.
As you can see, there is a big difference between Xaomi and the third position, a sign that the competition is not yet able to get close in an important way. Analyzing the situations of Fitbit and Xiaomi together, we can say that:
- Fitbit sells so much for the excellent quality of its products and the exceptional applications developed (as well as the web service);
- Xiaomi sells so much because of the exceptional value for money of their bands.
In your opinion, will the Xiaomi Mi band 2 make a further step forward on Xiaomi sales, or is the 3 million the maximum limit that can reach the Chinese giant? Share your opinion below in our comments or on our social.
