Amazon is expanding its renewable energy portfolio by announcing 18 new projects which include large-scale use of wind and solar energy in the United States, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. According to disclosed data, the 5.6 GW of electricity generation capacity achieved in 2021 represent a 40% increase compared to the 4 GW acquired in 2020.
In total, Amazon announced 274 projects of renewable energy around the world, including 105 large-scale wind and solar projects and 169 solar roofs on facilities and stores around the world. For the first time, Amazon also takes into account carbon emissions which it will avoid through its growing renewable energy portfolio. Once all 274 clean energy projects are up and running, Amazon estimates that eitherOver 13.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions will be avoided every year.
But what will Amazon do in Italy?
Amazon's solar project in Italy it is the third of the company in our country. This plans to add 40 MW of green energy production to the already existing 66 MW.
