For the uninitiated, BOE has been developing MicroOLED panels since 2018 thanks to its Kunming BOE Display Technology, a joint venture with the province of Yunnan.

MicroOLED technology works through OLED panels on a silicon wafer instead of a glass substrate, enabling it to achieve very high resolution. While the pixel size of the OLED panel in smartphones and TVs is around 40-300 micrometers, the pixel size of the MicroOLED panel is one-tenth of this at around 4-20 micrometers. Additionally, it's ideal for AR and VR use cases due to its response time.

Sunic Systems, a company based in South Korea, has supplied multiple deposition equipment for the production of MicroOLED panels, and last year the company signed a $ 225 million deal for the same.

Finally, we know that LG Display is also working on this new type of panels aimed at AR / VR devices. Samsung Display, one of the leaders in the world, has not yet unveiled any of the MicroOLED products so far.
