RAI license fee: farewell to the bill

Il RAI license fee it is essentially the car tax, but for television and public service. It is right to pay for it and there is no doubt about this. It should also be known that theItaly is not the country where you pay the most Previously, when we talked about the possibility of paying the fee also on devices such as smartphones and tablets, we have also seen which countries pay the most. But apart from that, it seems that twigs 2023 will no longer be present on the bill of the electrical user.

We find ourselves talking about the RAI license fee again, but this time the news is positive: in two years it will no longer be charged to the bill!

According to National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the RAI license fee should come out of the bills in 2022. This was announced in preview by the newspaper ItaliaOggi. According to internal sources of the European Commission, it seems that next year will be the last in which we will see the RAI fee in the electricity bill. A controversial choice, considering that it was chosen to include it in the electric user for prevent him from not getting paid. According to the newspaper:

The Council Implementing Decision on the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan includes measures to ensure the spread of competition in the retail electricity markets

The reason, however, is not so much linked to that of competition as it is said. In fact, the decision appears to have been made because i Energy suppliers can only "ask" for charges related to the electricity supply. Since the RAI fee is a property tax (even if this is not exactly the case), this cannot be assimilated into the above charges.

We remind you that the RAI fee was introduced in 2016 from the then Renzi government. The decision came for fight tax evasion. In fact, the goal was achieved: more than € 400 million in receipts compared to a reduction of tax evasion from 36% to 10%.
