GPT-5 will have capabilities indistinguishable from humans: it will achieve AGI

And from poco the new update is out GPT-4 dedicated to ChatGPT chatbot. In this article we have seen what improvements OpenAI has made to the generative model of artificial intelligence in just a few months. As such, its evolution has very few limits and this means only one thing: GPT-5 is coming. But when will it arrive? According to the latest news within the year. Let's see more.

When will GPT-5 and therefore the new ChatGPT chatbot come out?

According to available information, OpenAI plans to complete training of the GPT-5 neural network by December of this year. At the same time, the company hopes to reach the AGI (Artificial General/Strong Intelligence). The concept of so-called general-level artificial intelligence involves the ability of a program to think and act like a person. But we will see below what AGI is in detail. Meanwhile OpenAI already has announced GPT-4.5, promising to release an interim version in September or October 2023. Developers promise to address some of the limitations of GPT-4 improving performance and expanding the way it can be used. Additionally, GPT-4.5 will be able to produce text responses that are longer, more precise, and more connected.

What will be new in GPT-5?

Although it is impossible to predict the potential of such a complex instrument, it is possible to imagine the novelties of GPT-5. We might expect GPT-5 to have one increased natural language processing capacity compared to previous versions, allowing a deeper understanding of the contexts and nuances of language. It might even be able to make better use of prior knowledge to generate more accurate and complete text.

There may also be a greater focus on building AI models that can learn more efficiently, using less data and less energy, to reduce processing costs and energy consumption. Additionally, there may be an increased focus on information security and privacy, in order to prevent misuse and protect user data.

What is AGI?

AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is a type of artificial intelligence that aims to develop a machine capable of perform any task that a human can perform. In other words, AGI aims to create an AI that is generally intelligent and capable of performing a wide range of tasks without being specifically programmed for each one.

The AGI would represent a significant advancement compared to current limited artificial intelligence (AI), which is designed to perform specific tasks and lacks the ability to self-learn or adapt to new or unexpected situations. The AGI could have a significant impact on many areas, including the health, la science, the industry , company as a whole. However, it is still a target of active research and development, and there are many technical and ethical challenges before it can be done safely and effectively.

For comparison, existing neural networks can be described as "Narrow AI", as they are designed to perform and automate some kind of cognitive function with the ability to do it like a person or even better. In the case of “Strong AI” (General AI or AGI), we are talking about the program's ability to draw conclusions independently on the basis of incoming information and perform most of the tasks that a person is capable of.

And after the AGI?

Now let's really go into science fiction. In theory, after the AGI, comes the super artificial intelligence (ASI), which surpasses the intellectual abilities of any person and is able to instantly solve problems of any complexity. It's a concept theoretical which refers to a form of artificial intelligence that significantly surpasses human intelligence in all areas, including creativity, problem solving, learning, and understanding the world. ASI is considered a form of artificial general intelligence (AGI), but with a capacity for thought processing that surpasses that of any human being. There are several theories on how ASI could be achieved, including the "whole brain emulation" approach (here more information) and the “seed AI” approach (here more information).

Some theories suggest that the ASI may be programmed for solve global problems, such as climate change or poverty, but it could also become a lethal weapon if used improperly or maliciously.
