For a few days Xiaomi has entered the usual crowdfunding platform YouPin a new product that could appeal to all lovers of four-legged pets: it is the automatic water dispenser. Produced by "Beijing Dog Cat & Technology Co., Ltd." this distributor immediately registered a great number of consents, reaching 806% of funds foreseen for crowdfunding.
As the name “猫猫 狗狗” (literally “cat and dog”) suggests, this device is dedicated to owners as regards utility and to animals as regards usability. Made of white ABS plastic, this product weighs about 1,2kg and the measures are quite small: 190 x 190 x 174 mm. Cubic in shape, it is made up of a plastic shell and a tank that holds a maximum of 2 liters of water.
The vending machine is equipped with a mechanism that allows a continuous flow and a constant oxygenation of the water in order to keep it clean and pure for our animals; as stated by the company, this flow allows "a purity of a mountain source" that helps to maintain the health of quadrupeds and reduce the risk of diseases.
To maintain this purity, the company has inserted into the device a filter formed by 4 layers that also contribute to improving the taste of water, as they block impurities carried by any hairs or harmful substances present in the water (such as chlorine or residues of heavy metals) and prevent the spread of unpleasant odors due to the stagnation of the aforementioned.
The water flow has an autonomy of 24h and is powered by a low pressure pump that literally floats the lid from which the clean water comes out. This floatation allows, in addition to the easy lifting of the lid to change the water on the surface, an almost null resonance of 40db (to be clear, equal to the noise of an external hard disk at work): this feature makes this distributor also suitable for the most as small as rooms or apartments.
Another feature that makes this device very "smart" is the presence of two red LEDs on the front that indicate the water level during use and the conditions of the purifier filter. In any case, the company recommends changing the filter every 30 days to keep the efficiency of the device always at maximum.
The last note, worthy of mention, concerns the development team of this vending machine: as reported in the "presentation of the team" section, every person who is part of it is involved in the cause of the health and dignity of the pet, values that the brand undertakes to carry on.
Regarding price and release date on the market: the company promises the start of the 20 November shipments this year, so the official release (purely for the Chinese market) will take place for that month. The launch price is 99 yuan, at the current exchange rate 12 € approx.
