Meet Gigachat, ChatGPT's Russian rival

The tech news of the day is that Russia has developed its own virtual assistant, which it will directly compete with Chat GPT. It is called GigaChat, and aims to compete with OpenAI's AI. Let's find out more details.

GigaChat, the chatbot created by Sberbank

This chatbot was created by the state bank Sberbank and is the first example of generative artificial intelligence developed in the country. At the moment it is only available in closed beta and by invitation. Its functioning is similar to that of its competitors, as it can answer questions, converse, write code and generate text and images within a specific context.

However, it stands out from its foreign competitors as it is designed to support multimodal interaction and communicate in Russian more intelligently. In other words, it was created to be mainly used by the Russians.

GigaChat is one open source multimodal neural network based on NeONKA, which uses supervised self-learning to continuously improve its performance thanks to user feedback.

GigaChat can also generate images

Sberbank has stated that GigaChat generative models will be blocked if they are used contrary to the AI Code of Ethics. The new 3.5 version of this tool, which will be released soon, will include 13 billion parameters and accelerate the evolution of artificial intelligence and the open source community. In the future, AI will be made available to developers and enterprises through a cloud API.

According to Sberbank CEO Herman Gref, GigaChat can be used by students and researchers in their jobs, as well as any user who likes to experiment with innovation. The chatbot was trained on the Christofari Neo supercomputer, developed by SberDevices and Sber AI together with the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. Furthermore, GigaChat is integrated with the Kandinsky 2.1 model, which even allows it to generate images.
