Google Maps now shows air quality and fires

Clean air is increasingly sought after and Google wants to help us in this by reporting, through a new tool, the areas where you can breathe better. In addition to this, the newly released tool will also allow you to see information relating to the fires that are happening. Clearly this works best with the help of the users.

After the 3D maps, Google Maps also brings us information on air quality and fires, complete with recommendations!

The Google Maps app wants to help us breathe fresh air, to which the next updating for Android and iOS. The app tells us how good the air is in our area, so we can make a decision whether to go out or not, and if so, for how long. Thanks to the next update, we will see the numbers of the AQI (of the air quality index) as well as recommendations for outdoor activities, the date the information was last updated and links to more information.

The data comes from government agencies, including theUnited States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The maps also show information on the air quality from Purple Air, a low-cost network that can give us a local view of conditions. To add this air quality level to the map, tap the button in the upper right corner of the smartphone screen, then select Air quality in Map details. PurpleAir information is also available on Nest's displays and speakers.

Thanks to Google's partnership with the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), this allows you to view detailed information on active fires in any area. For large fires, you can also simply search for "fires near me”And relevant data will be displayed along with air quality information.

Obviously, the tool is only available in States United at the moment.
