Pixel 6 Pro: tests reveal a big (and ambiguous) battery problem

Pixel 6Pro is enjoying great success and will arrive at us at the beginning of next year, as revealed by reliable sources. However, despite the device being a true technological gem, it is not without its problems. If on the one hand his performance far exceeds those of high-end competing devices, on the other hand, the battery is likely to be a problem. Specifically when the smartphone is used with 60 Hz screen an unpleasant thing happens.

Google Pixel 6 Pro seems to have a battery problem when used with a 60Hz screen: it consumes more than when using 120Hz!

Announced a few weeks ago by Google, the Pixel 6 line had to face its first post-launch problems. Among them a bugs which increases the size of the hole in the front camera and another which directly hits the screen of the device doing so flash randomly. To this, there is a problem (on Pixel 6 Pro) related to the battery.

The tests carried out by Andrei Frumusanu, smartphone specialist working for the portal AnandTech, reveal that the display consumes more power at a frequency of 60 Hz, a defect that could be linked to a software bug. During the analysis, a peculiarity was identified in the mobile phone display: 60Hz frequency uses more energy than 120Hz in bright environments

This result contradicts what we see in the vast majority of smartphones that support this refresh rate, which, precisely because they deviate from the 60 Hz standard, require more energy. The author did not confess what tests the Pixel 6 Pro flagship was subjected to, but the image shows that the smartphone consumes more power.

I would go further, it also claims that the Pixel 6 Pro consumes huge battery consumption even when the screen is at its lowest brightness, even surpassing the common Pixel 6, which consumes only 500mW of power. A number that is a lot higher than that found on the iPhone 13 Pro. This in fact consumes only 390 to 430 mW at 120 Hz.
