The only caveat to this apparent change in device compatibility is the fact that you won't easily find the Google Phone app by searching the Play Store. After signing up for the beta, you need to submit or click a direct link to the Play Store listing. Once done, there are all the indications to proceed.
You can also proceed in a different way: by installing via sideload the corresponding apk. Some users on Reddit have found full compatibility while few don't. We are not sure if this application works, after all it is a beta: otherwise just uninstall the update is restore the stable version.
