The Android community is always buzzing, but among its members, those who develop and improve the GCam deserve special applause. It's no secret: the Google Pixel camera is excellent both for its image processing and for some really interesting options, without forgetting the simplicity of its interface. Today we announce the availability (via third-party apps) of the GCam 8.9.

GCam 8.9 introduces the object tracking in portrait mode, HDR+ and RAW improvements. Behind the GCam there is a community that is not only large, but very active. That's why, even if we don't contribute to the development, as users we are always attentive to improvements and new versions, even patches.
An example is version 8.8, released in April of this year, but with many subsequent versions that improved various aspects of the camera, as well as adding new functions. To give you an idea, at the beginning of July there were modders who were already on version 13 of GCam 8.8.
Now comes the stable version of GCam 8.9 from one of the most active and reliable developers with this application, BSG. It was released on July 29 for devices with Android 11 or higher and is V2 of the new version of the GCam.

A V2 is a version that we can start using. There may be some errors, but it is neither a V0 (which specifies that it will probably give stability problems on many devices) nor a V1 that comes out with the bare minimum to work.
In this V2, BSG communicates that they have been fixed stability issues and bugs that have surfaced over the last few days, but many features have also been added. For example, focus tracking in portrait mode and video, advanced settings have been added, HDR+ for RAW format, changes in compression quality of both JPG and RAW and a few more features.
You can download the new BSG GCAm 8.9 through this link to Carlos Acevedo's page, but if we install it on our device and it doesn't work, then we recommend looking for a GCam 8.9 from another developer or directly switching to an older version such as 8.8.
