Lei Jun did not want the IPO

Today the fifth session of the "World Internet Congress"In Wuzhen, in the easternmost part of China, and in an interview Lei Jun said she did not vote for Xiaomi's entry to HKEx, or the Hong Kong stock exchange. Indeed a May, date of the "request" of the stock exchange listing, the company chairman would have voted against the IPO as he thought (rightly in my opinion) that another two or three years off the quotations would be useful to the brand. Instead, in July, exactly 8 years after the opening of the first stores in China, the company definitely entered HKEx.

Lei Jun

At the beginning Lei Jun denied that Xiaomi would enter the stock market but following a board of directors the majority decided for the "yes". He and the  Wang Chuan, vice president and co-founder together with Lei Jun, they would be expressed contrary to the decision for two reasons very simple: at that moment Xiaomi did not need money to keep going, and therefore the market capitalization would not have served much, but above all from that moment on, the company would have suffered a lot of pressure from investors. We know that many multinationals are quoted on the stock exchange to seek funding from individuals so they can have liquidity to be used for research or development, and these individuals rightly want the gain.

The CEO would also have admitted that this is the best time to list on the stock exchange: the market is favorable and we saw it with the exports of Xiaomi that we bring you back , promising. After reaching this goal however, the first thought was to keep the growth rate constant and in fact affirmed:

<<我们 前面 三个 友 商 都 极为 强大, 要 在 未来 的 竞争 中 胜出, 小米 还要 保持 创新.>>

<<Our three friends (clearly referring to Huawei, Oppo and Apple) in front of us are strong and we must win the competition in the future, Xiaomi must continue to be innovative. >>

Just about the future of the company Lei Jun would have also affirmed, or rather confirmed, the two points on which the company will work assiduously: user experience and globalization. It has also been said that Xiaomi entered the 80 countries market and located in the top five in 25 of these, even if he is aiming for the podium.

In addition to this, at the end of the interview Mr. Jun has confirmed that Xiaomi will release smartphones that will support 5G technology in Europe and will do so between March and April of next year. This is great news for all users who are waiting impatiently for the arrival of this novelty.

What do you think of the entry into the stock exchange of Xiaomi? If the two highest figures of the company did not want this entry unjustified to them, "why did the others vote in favor? Is this just a gain despite Xiaomi's maximum revenue cap being fixed 5%?
