LG announces first curved and foldable 48 ″ OLED display

In the last period of 2020 we have seen several interesting products that will be presented by LG during the CES 2021. One of this is a innovative robot that allows you to disinfect and sanitize environments using UVC light. But as we know the Korean company is made up of several nuclei, one of which (perhaps the most important) deals with the design and production of LCD and OLED display. Just this just announced a 48 ″ curved and adjustable angle display. Let's go see the details.

A huge LG OLED display for gamers with two important features: it is curved and can be "folded" at will within a certain angle limit

LG Bendable Cinematic Sound OLED 48 ″ display: this is the name of the screen dedicated to more hardcore gamers than the company of the same name will officially present during CES 2021. The distinctive feature of this OLED screen, as you have no doubt understood, is that it allows you to literally bend the glass at will. However, this does not mean that the angle has no limits: it can reach a defined angle 1000R, equal to a circle with a radius of 1.000 millimeters. Unfortunately the company did not provide any images other than the one we see below.

The usefulness of creating a flexible PC display comes from the fact that in this way you can enjoy an experience adaptable to your needs. In fact, when a gamer uses a laptop or even desktop PC with a flat screen, there are many things he needs to look at. For example, the reflected light of a hypothetical window, to name just one.

As for the features of this flexible LG display we have a response time of 0,1 milliseconds and refresh rate of 120Hz. To be honest, the device is equipped with technology Variable refresh rate which can change in a range between 40 and 120Hz.

Compared to the audio sector, however, the display is equipped with the technology Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO): Sounds are played via vibrations of the display generated by special actuators and not via built-in speakers. As mentioned, the device will be presented at CES 2021 to be held in a few days.
