As we all know the Mobile World Congress this year has jumped due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The period, as usual, coincided with the onset of the problems related to the virus and fortunately the opportunity was canceled and postponed from a date to be determined. Unfortunately for the whole of 2020 we will not see anything but it has been announced that the MWC 2021 will be held. In fact we already knew that it would be organized and the period that was to host this event was March. Unfortunately the organizing body GSMA announced one slip until July. Consequently, it goes from March 31 to July 1, always if all goes well.
GSMA declares MWC 2021 postponed: three months late due to concerns related to COVID-19
At the basis of this announcement, officially proclaimed by the GSMA, is the concern of a new wave. In particular, what is most risky is an outbreak of considerable size given the desire to participate of users and given the consequent gathering of people in that of Barcelona. As usual the event will be held in Spain, therefore no change of location unless there are new insurmountable problems.
But how does GSMA intend to involve such a large number of people without creating outbreaks? By inserting "virtual elements"(So we read in the press release) to avoid the overwhelming demand of users to physically gather in the place.
Mats Granryd, General Manager of GSMA stated:
"With an ever-changing global perspective and after consulting our board of directors, members and our top exhibitors, we have made the careful decision to reschedule MWC21 Shanghai in February and MWC21 Barcelona in June. The health and safety of our exhibitors, participants, staff and people of Barcelona are of paramount importance "
We do not know if this delay will in any way affect the launch of smartphones or devices of all sorts. It is certain that some brands originally they intended to present their diamond tips during this very occasion. We hope that the best cards can be revealed during theMWC 2021 and that there is no need to postpone the event again.
