As we had anticipated in this article, the "high" version of the Xiaomi RedMi Note 4X with the Mediatek Helio X20 chip is now official! In fact it appeared on TENAA - the Chinese body for the certification of radiocommunications - the license referred to this new model with code MBT6A5 and then the smartphone was put on the official website list without major announcements from the Chinese company.
The new version of the Xiaomi RedMi Note 4X features a Mediatek decore-core Helio X20 processor accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory and was released only a month away from the release of the model with SoC Snapdragon 625.
But it is not Xiaomi's only reported strangeness related to the RedMi series: by checking the licenses on the Chinese Ministry website, a model has emerged of what I assume is a RedMi 4X (which has a code MAE136), serialized with the identifier MAT136:
This new RedMi 4X comes with a whopping 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while the look is identical to its sibling released last month. Why this model with 4-64GB configuration? It is a model designed for the Indian market and therefore the successor of the famous RedMi 3S that the VP of Xiaomi Manu Jain spoke about at the inauguration of second factory in India? Unfortunately for the moment there are no further confirmations from the official Xiaomi website for which what I'm reporting is just my hypothesis.
