The company just revealed when the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T beta program starts for Android 11. Second this official forum post, users will be able to install a beta version of Android 11 starting with end of August 2021. There is a lot to wait for the stable version, considering that betas are usually 3 or 4. But this is precisely in the period when we expect the release of Android 12. Basically we expect the rollout of the stable version to take place in the last months of the current year, if not the first of the next.
But let's proceed in order. The two devices really are eligible to receive the update? According to our calculations, yes. In particular:
- OnePlus 6: was born with Android 8 Oreo and should arrive at Android 11, considering the three standard years of updates promised
- OnePlus 6T: It is born with Android 9 Pie and, like the standard version, it should receive up to Android 12
So the problem shouldn't exist for the 6T model, but with 6 we are at the limit. We know that update dates may vary if the company so decides. A similar case, albeit different, happened with Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G: the device will remain out of date even if it has only received two major updates.
