OnePlus 9 Pro: the brand tells us lies, the performance tests are not true

Smartphones OnePlus they have always been associated with high-end hardware and maximum performance, but it has been found that the company is limiting the work of many applications. The portal AnandTech has conducted further investigations to find out if the real work of the smartphones matches what the manufacturer promised. Specifically they have been tested OnePlus 9 Pro and 9 standard. Let's see what emerged.

According to AnandTech and its report, OnePlus allegedly "falsified" the performance of onePlus 9 and 9 Pro. Here is what was discovered

All tests were carried out on OnePlus 9 Pro, the brand's latest high-end smartphone (although the 9T Pro). It turned out that during the launch of all kinds of benchmarking, the Snapdragon 888 processor runs at full capacity, demonstrating the true capabilities of the device. But everything changes with thedaily use. It turned out that OnePlus created a kind of blacklist, which included many popular applications from Google Play. As soon as the device detects that one of these programs is running, it immediately throttles maximum performance.

CPU performance scaling behavior for OnePlus 9 Pro

AnandTech tested dozens of the most popular applications, from social networks to the Microsoft Office suite. There is a restriction in almost all of them. Furthermore, this behavior has also been noted in some standard programs of the same company.

For example, when using Chrome, the Speedometer 2.0 benchmark was launched, which for the first time showed 61.5 points, a rather low result for Snapdragon 888-based smartphones. It turned out that at that time the powerful Cortex-X1 core was not involved, but only the Cortex-A78 cores worked at 2.0 GHz instead of the possible 2.41 GHz. Interestingly, when the test was repeated, only the energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores were used, for a total of 16.8 points

For comparison, the Vivaldi browser did not reveal any restrictions, so the test did shown 107 points, which is comparable to other flagships with Snapdragon 888. In different applications, OnePlus 9 Pro has shown around 60-80% of its real capabilities. OnePlus is assumed to be trying to get better battery life this way, but tests show that other smartphones with similar and unrestricted features often last even longer than the OnePlus 9 Pro.
