OnePlus, once a revolutionary brand that is now integrating more and more into Oppo, loses its charm every year and its uniqueness in the eyes of users. The author shared his observations on how OnePlus systematically adds artificial restrictions and interrupts the work of some chips in software updates. An example above all to understand what the modder says: before on OnePlus 7 / 7T, 8 / 8T and Nord, it was impossible to use all the auxiliary cameras without root rights. When the developers have managed to get around this limitation, OnePlus has blocked this method with a patch. The reason behind the choice of the brand is unknown, but probably Pete Lau wants users to use the basic camera.
Needless to say, after this particular choice, users have sent negative feedback on the official community, which, however, the company did not like. Another limitation is the blocking access to full resolution of the main sensor for third party camera applications. For example, instead of “native” images for the 48 megapixel sensor, we can only take 12 megapixel photos. The Portuguese author publishes images from 12 and 48 megapixels from his Zenfone 6, whose main camera sensor (IMX586) is also used in the OnePlus 7 / 7T, 8 / 8T and Nord series.
Ultimately the advice of Celso Azevedo it is no longer what it had at the time of the OnePlus One flagship killer. In his opinion the company still positions itself as a development-friendly brand, but at the same time acts like Samsung or Huawei.
