It seemed almost a hoax the news that Xiaomi was working on a model of low-cost smartphone with CPU Snapdragon 625, a sort of device born from the "waste" of old smartphones. We are talking about Redmi S2 that apparently not only is it real but it seems it can debut as soon as possible directly in the European market. In fact, after showing you the real photos that portrayed the Redmi S2 live, we are ready to show you the video hands-on, which seems to be set within an Mi Store (presumably the one in Prague).
Recall that the new low-cost smartphone from Xiaomi has already received the 3C and TENAA certification, and apparently looks similar to the recent Mi 6X. In fact we find a display from 5,99 inch but with HD + resolution but also one dual rear camera consisting of a main module from 12 megapixel and a secondary from 5 megapixel, even if you need to clarify the sensors used, as it is not clear whether there is a Sony IMX486 or one provided by OmniVision, perhaps more in line with the range of price at which the Redmi S2 is placed.
The frontal room instead is entrusted to a 16 megapixel optics accompanied by an LED flash to improve the shots taken in low light conditions. From the image at the top of the article it is clearly noted that the technical data sheet consists of a Snapdragon 625 processor, battery by 3080 mAh and operating system Android Oreo with MIUI 9 interface. Xiaomi officially did not comment on the Redmi S2, nor did it leaked dates related to the launch of the new smartphone, but apparently do not seem to miss the leaks of news relating to the latter, which will be presented in Europe and also available for the Vietnamese market. In fact, judging from the photo that shows a flyer of offers for smartphones, we also note the presence of Redmi S2, proposed at a price of VND 3999000 (Vietnamese Dong) equal to approximately 146 euros. The price of course may not be the official one.

Returning to the video, it amazes the fact that Europe was chosen as godmother for the presentation of a new device, but this certifies Xiaomi's desire to broaden its horizons in the Western market, especially in Europe. The unit shown in video is in the gold variant, but at least two other colors are provided, including black and silver. At the design level the resemblance to the 6X Mi is really amazing, but a careful eye immediately notices the different style of the lines of the antennas that seem almost to adopt a "reinforcement", so comand the sensors are arranged differently, as on the Redmi S2 we find the presence of the jack 3,5 mm instead absent on the 6X Mi.
The interlocutor who posted the video on YouTube confirms some features, in addition to the processor, ie one RAM from 3 GB and 32 GB of internal memory expandable via micro SD. To judge all the specifications I would not define the Xiaomi Redmi S2 a low cost but I would place it on the border between this category and that of the mid range. Given the recent developments, the new smartphone will be unveiled as soon as possible officiallyTherefore, we can only wait, hoping that at the inauguration of the first Italian Mi Store, the company reserves some pleasant surprises for our country as well.
