realme showed last year its first smartphone with an under-display camera. With these words we identify the UDC, or the invisible photographic sensor, hidden under the panel. Other companies have already proposed this kind of device but mass sale is now out of the question. As for the Chinese company realme, the smartphone with camera under the display it was only seen from the front. However, a patent shows us the complete design. Let's see it together.
A realme patent would show what the smartphone with camera under the display (UDC) will be: could it be done better or not?
After a post from realme's vice president in September 2020 revealed that the company had already started development of its first smartphone with camera under the display, new patents indicate that the device's launch may be closer than ever. The photos published, so far, they did not reveal any front cameras. This raised suspicions, however, that the company might be developing a new camera device pop-up, following on from Realme X, announced at the end of 2019.
Despite this, the statements of the CEO of realme Europe and India, Madhav Sheth, have clarified the company's intention of do not repeat this format (aka the pop-up camera). As we said, new patents reinforce this hypothesis.
However, we cannot be sure that the patent indicates the imminent launch of a realme device with camera under the display. In addition to the supposedly hidden camera, we have others three photographic sensors on the back and a USB Type-C port on the bottom.
We remember that ZTE was the first Chinese manufacturer to introduce a smartphone with an under-display front camera to the world. Poco after, Xiaomi has confirmed that it would announce a smartphone with the same technology in 2021. Now, trying not to lose space, even realme seems to be preparing for the launch of one smartphone with a front camera below the display.
