After weeks of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi's sub-brand, Redmi, has just confirmed that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be officially presented on February 16.

Redmi K50 Gaming Edition has a launch date, its design also shown

Redmi said the e-sport version of the Redmi K50 will not only be a top-performing smartphone, it will also have a host of new technologies.

In the image released with the announcement we can see that the gaming phone will come with dedicated retractable side buttons, therefore the same design as its predecessor, the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, allowing the most hardcore gamers to be able to use four fingers at the same time during play sessions. Also from the photo we notice the very aggressive design, with a lightning-shaped flash, also here very similar to the K40 Gaming Edition.

As for the specifications, it has been reported that the gaming version of the Redmi K50 adopts a solution with a perforated screen and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The smartphone will be of the new Qualcomm flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and will have a VC cooling system which stands for “Vapor Chamber” (vapor chamber). This technology uses a flat airtight vapor chamber which allows heat to be transferred evenly and is based on the gas-liquid phase transition. The VC cooling system is better than the heatpipes, but has a slightly higher cost.

Why do we dwell so much on the cooling system, well because Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, said that the goal of the e-sport version of the Redmi K50 is to be the smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 running at the lowest temperature.

In any case, now we just have to wait until February 16 to find out all the details still missing.
