A mind-controlled Segway: the future is absurd | Video

Innovation is a constant but every now and then something emerges that seems like something out of a science fiction film. This time, the innovation comes from Russia, where a company has collaborated with whoosh, an electric scooter rental service, to develop a Segway Ninebot that can be controlled with your mind. We're not talking about a simple voice command or an app on your smartphone. We're talking about using the power of the mind to drive a means of transportation.

Who is Neiry?

Neiry is a company specializing in neurotechnology that has as its goal the direct interface between the human brain and machines. With a series of cutting-edge projects, Neiry it's pushing the boundaries of what's possible in terms of human-machine interaction. Their technology it's not limited to electric scooters like the Segway we see in the video poco below, but has potential applications in a wide range of industries, from medicine to virtual reality.

Neuroscience on a Segway

The project is the result of collaboration between whoosh e Neiry. The Segway Ninebot was connected to a computer through a wireless connection and subsequently synchronized with a neurointerface developed by Neiry. This device is capable of detect electroencephalogram signals (EEG) and to interpret various mental states such as concentration, fatigue and stress. But what makes this technology so revolutionary? It's his ability to translate these mental states into actual commands for the Segway. In other words, the driver's concentration level is correlated to the speed of the electric scooter, allowing for smoother and more intuitive driving.

Scooters driven with the mind in the future?

At the moment, neither whoosh nor Neiry have announced plans for the marketing of this technology. However, the implication is clear: we are entering an era where the technology and biology are merging in ways we could once only imagine. This project opens the door to a future where we can control not only scooters, but perhaps other forms of transportation and electronic devices, simply with the power of our brains. It's a concept that could revolutionize not only the way we move, but also how we interact with the world around us.
