BOE's foldable smartphone opens inside and out, it's really flexible! | Video

The future is folding smartphone, this is what many say. But will it really be like this? Some are inclined to the idea that this kind of device will have no future; others say the opposite. In short, as usual, there are two sides. Personally, I believe they won't have a future for a few years. However the research does not stop and BOE, among the world's largest smartphone glass and screen companies, shows a very curious prototype she created. It is a device that opens and closes, literally.

BOE shows its revolutionary folding smartphone prototype: a glass so flexible that it allows bending in two directions

One of the things that gets criticized the most about a foldable smartphone is the fragility of the screen. Not so much that of the fixed part, but of the one that has to be folded. In recent days Samsung showed his new device but the result was not the best: the criticisms of how much the folding mechanism ruins the glass were wasted. However BOE seems to have solved this problem. The leaker Digital Chat Station shows us a short clip.

As we can see from the clip, the foldable smartphone can be curved both outwards and inwards. According to what we learn from news offered by the Chinese company itself, this possibility is given by a particular technology. The details are not known but we know what it is a type of glass constructed from multiple overlapping layers. This theoretically should decrease the stress in the bending area, resulting in a increased resistance.

It is too early to say when the first smartphone of this type will be available for purchase. for the moment anyway no company seems to have ordered this kind of display from BOE. It is probably still a developing glass and not applicable to mobile devices.
