In the smartphone landscape everything now seems very static, without any particular innovations, but in the world of true wireless headphones we are witnessing the daily launch of specific products for certain needs, with sometimes unusual shapes. Well, if you are among the users who don't like to stick something in the ear hole or are simply looking for headphones to use for sports, today I bring you the Tozo OpenBuds for review, which I appreciated very much. They are capable of making us listen to music even in all those environments in which isolating oneself would be dangerous.

Unfortunately, the sales package doesn't offer much apart from the charging case with headphones inserted inside, instruction manual and a short Type-C cable for charging. It would have been great if the company had thought of including a small carrying bag, considering that the charging box is made of opaque plastic, which tends to retain fingerprints and dirt in general as well as being easily scratched.
The construction is excellent, which can also be seen from the lid or rather from the hinge for opening, very robust and which does not cause the lid to close on itself even with strong jolts. On the front of the charging "socket" we find a small LED that notifies us of the battery charge status, while on the opposite side we find the Type-C input for charging the battery. 600 mAh for the case and 70 mAh for the headphones, obtaining 12 hours of music playback at 50% volume and up to 42 hours with additional recharges in the compartment. There is no wireless charging while it takes about 1,5 hours for a full charge.
Inside we find the Tozo OpenBuds and a small button for resetting the pairing, which occurs via Bluetooth 5.3, with support for the AAC/SBC audio codec. We also have support for multipoint connection, therefore being able to connect the earphones to two devices at the same time, managing for example music on one and calls on the other device.
The Tozo OpenBuds are not normal TWS earphones and you can immediately notice this by their very particular shape. Rotating headbands of 60 degrees on the horizontal axis and 90 degrees on the vertical axis are adopted, to better adapt comfort based on the physiognomy of your head and ears. You will have understood that they do not have in-ear or semi-in-ear designs but they rest on the ear canal, releasing the audio by means of 14.2 mm dynamic drivers, guaranteeing high quality sound and a very high level musical experience, also thanks to the Tozo's proprietary audio technology, ORIGX 2.0.
Naturally we find the IPX6 certification present, ideal for sports but these headphones also allow you to better manage calls, as a DSP processor dedicated to reducing noise during calls is integrated inside.
The audio is excellent for listening to music, films or podcasts, but above all I appreciated during the call the fact that there is no dispersion of the audio towards the outside, safeguarding privacy, meaning whoever is next to you will not hear what our person will say interlocutor, despite the “open” nature of the drivers. The touch controls are also complete and functional: single/double/triple or long touch to manage play/pause, skip the music track, recall the smartphone assistant, control the volume and answer, hang up or reject a call.
Furthermore, through the companion app, available for both Android and iOS systems, it is possible to customize the controls on a single earphone, customize the audio equalization or draw on set presets as well as update the firmware if the company releases it.
