X (Twitter) paid: who is it for and how much does it cost

Recently, the well-known social network Twitter introduced something new that could change the way users interact with the platform. The current X has announced the implementation of a annual fee for new users, in an effort to ensure a greater authenticity within the platform and combat the persistent bot problem. In fact, through a micro transaction, you can find out whether the user is fake or not.

How much is X (Twitter) paid

The renamed social network X announced this week that it will begin charging a $1 annual fee for new users. This new policy is currently being tested in New Zealand and in Philippines. The main objective of this move is to verify the authenticity of users through a program called “Not a Bot".

As the name suggests, the program aims to ensure that users of the platform are real and not automated bots, which have presented problems with spam and manipulation on Twitter in the past. With the $1 subscription, users will be able to publish content, share posts, reply and quote other posts on X. Basically, by paying this fee, users will have log in to a regular account with all the standard X features.

What is the difference with the free account

However, there is a difference between the free Twitter account and the paid one. For those who choose not to pay the subscription access will be limited to one “read only” version of Twitter. This means that they will be able to view the contents, but not actively interact with the platform. Basically, if users want to continue doing what they have always done, they will have to pay (perhaps everywhere, we don't know yet).

We remember that under the guide by Elon Musk, X (Twitter) also introduced a premium plan which offers extra features to users. Furthermore, he is working on a second option for remove all ads from the platform, further improving the user experience.
