Remember that vivo smartphone with built-in drone? You must know that this is not the only madness the company has thought of. Although the drone market is constantly growing, it must be recognized that there is also another sector that sees a lot of demand, namely that of tablets. In the last period we have talked about the realmepad but also ofOne Plus Pad. And what if this other Chinese brand, also part of the BBK group, produced one? But not one normal, but rather one that transforms from smartphone to tablet. Here's what it might look like according to a patent.
In addition to its tablet, vivo also thinks of a way to transform a smartphone into a tablet: the method is simple, even if exaggerated.
We came across a depot of vivo patent indicating that it is working on a smartphone that it can transform into a tablet by connecting to an external display. From the patent documents, it is not entirely clear how vivo intends to do this. At first, it looked like the external display had a “hole-in-the-middle” design that would be filled by the phone screen. However, we think it might as well be a snap-on display that attaches to your phone from the front, completely obscuring the phone screen.
Either way, one thing for sure is that this method for increase screen space it is not very practical when traveling as it means that we will also have to carry the external display with us. It could be an effective solution when we are at home or in the office, even if we can more easily connect any display to the smartphone.
Note that the smartphone can be used like a normal smartphone and has one front camera under the display. The image on the patent document also shows a USB-C port, as well as the physical volume rockers and power / lock buttons on the side. However, neither the phone nor the external display are prepared for a 3.5 mm jack.
Since it is a deposit of patent, we are not sure this product will ever make it to production. But there's no denying that this is indeed an interesting design choice and one that is sure to turn heads in the event of a release.
