vivo, Qualcomm and Tencent GVoice together for better voice processing of games

The arrival of live in the Italian market it has aroused a lot of interest so much that even the international press has talked about it. The brand is historically one of the most stable in China and landing in the old continent will only increase the brand's firepower. We have seen precisely the X51 5G, the first smartphone that immediately received a great consensus thanks to the novelty of the camera gimbals in the rear photographic compartment. But the company is not just smartphones: in fact, like other Chinese giants such as Xiaomi e Oppo, audio research plays an important role in its growth. In this regard, today we talk about the company's collaboration with Tencent GVoice e Qualcomm, who have joined forces to launch a whole new technology that will be appreciated by gamers around the world.

Video games with voice processing are increasingly important for young people and alive, with Tencent GVoice and Qualcomm are betting on this through an interesting partnership: here are the details

This is not a partnership to improve game audio, mind you. For that already Qualcomm is doing its part thanks to processors and micro-components to be assembled in consoles. It is rather about improve, where possible, the receipt of the communication during the game sessions. Interactive real-time games have experienced rapid development in recent years. Players in different locations need ever higher standards for real-time transmission of their voice. Basically there are two points on which the three companies, of which vivo is a part, have focused:

  • less need for energy in data transfer, and therefore in communication between players;
  • better efficiency in terms of audio quality and transmission speed.

Very often gamers choose a isolated place for a session of Gaming, but thanks to this cooperation it will be possible in the future to play in crowded places. This is because one of the objectives of the "triad" will be that of reduce external noise and interference which could affect the gaming experience.

comparison of the noise ratio GVoice and VOIP vivo, qualcomm and tencent gvoice

Tencent's proprietary GVoice algorithm is deeply optimized for game scenes and delivers better performance than traditional IM software voice processing algorithms (VOIP).

It has been calculated that, in terms of time, the noise and interference in a game session of medium duration is equivalent to 11.5% in the case of the IM algorithm (VOIP) while in the case of GVoice only at 3.4%. Below is a clearer comparison.

Through an optimization of Qualcomm Hexagon's AI engine, vivo's smartphones will be able to eliminate noise and interference.

In terms of energy saving instead, after the game and the GVoice have been activated, the noise reduction algorithm no longer weighs on the smartphone CPU, but on the Hexagon processor of the Qualcomm AI engine. Power consumption is reduced by 20mA / s, with a 30% decrease in energy used compared to before.
