This Xiaomi lamp is controlled with the walkie-talkie | Video

Let's get out of the news for a moment smartphones and let's dedicate ourselves to off topic from the world. Here we see that it is possible, through a small stratagem, command one Xiaomi-Philips lamp through a device that doesn't look like a remote control at all. It is in fact a walkie-talkie, a receiver that allows two people to communicate at a distance. And how is it possible that this device (smarter than we think) can control a smart lamp built by Philips for Xiaomi? It is very simple actually. Let's see it together.

Is it possible to control a Xiaomi lamp via a walkie-talkie? This user shows us that it is easier than it looks

But first, for completeness of information, it is right to underline that the division Philips in China has been working with Yeelight and Xiaomi for years. Philips has a huge channel in China and Xiaomi loves to connect with that. The video comes from the social reddit. A user, certainly with much greater preparation and curiosity than ours, managed to operate and control a Xiaomi smart lamp (built by Philips) through a receiver used to communicate remotely. As we can see in the clip above, the user turns the lamp light off and on by moving and turning on the walkie-talkie receiver. But how did he do it?

It is actually a coincidence. Most smart lamps or smart appliances like smart TVs and the like have a certain frequency. Through this frequency the respective remote controls will “talk” with the products. This portable radio has an adjustable frequency, which means it can be set to the frequency at which the lamp responds. The portable radio works in a sense like a remote control, allowing you to perform the simple tasks of switching on and off. Clearly the more difficult activities, such as regulating the intensity of the light, they are not possible as the remote control does not have the chips that allow it.

Curious isn't it?
