Xiaomi Mi Watch: General design and processor officially revealed

We have talked about it out of proportion in the last two days and it is normal that this is so since it is the first true Xiaomi branded smartwatch: the Mi Watch. This morning we discovered almost all of thehardware interior except for one component that we will talk about now, while with regard to design we had only seen a close-up image of the dial.

Well, today we go instead to discover the entire design thanks to the official render just released by Xiaomi on the Chinese social media Weibo.

Xiaomi Mi Watch: General design and processor officially revealed

Xiaomi Mi Watch

As we can see in the image above (and the one on the cover), the Xiaomi Mi Watch arrives with a design that many consider similar to that of the Apple Watch but which actually looks much more square. Obviously there are also similarities such as the lateral digital crown (or Digital Crown) positioned at the top right, the hole for the microphone and a button lower down. The same goes for the interface that at least with the default watchface sees the clock in the center with two dedicated icons in the lower corners.

But the external look is not the only detail we have learned in the last few hours. As we said earlier, the Chinese brand also revealed the specifications of a key component in a smartwatch: the processor. Xiaomi has indeed confirmed that the Mi Watch will equip a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, a CPU dedicated precisely to wearables and that brings excellent performance thanks to the four ARM Cortex A7 cores at a maximum frequency of 1.2GHz along with a particular architecture that allows to decrease the consumption to a minimum.

The CPU obviously supports WearOS which we therefore expect to see on the smartwatch, even if Xiaomi could opt for a homemade MIUI style skin.

Finally, Xiaomi has also published a render of the battery inside the Mi Watch, adding that this will be large. This means that we can have an autonomy of several days with the smartwatch, so much more than the 18 hours of "normal" use that we would have on the Apple Watch; do we need to add anything else?

If you are interested in learning about the rest of the hardware sector, in this post let's talk about all the other main components.
